Mattie’s Place believes in nurturing the human-animal bond through support and advocacy for homeless pets
Our mandate is helping Canadian pets. We have a focus on Northern dogs, shelter pets & owner
surrenders.
Though we assist dogs & cats, dogs are the priority.
Our deeper focus are medical cases, pets facing euthanasia or high probability of death in their
current living situation.
We are always forthcoming on our socials about our rescue world and the stories of the companion
pets that are in it.
We are also considering a podcast to bring the conversations even more to light on the day to
day of life in rescue and the rescue world as a whole.
Watch for the release of Mattie’s Place documentaries and docuseries.
We assist like-minded organizations financially on initiatives to slow the increasing population
of homeless and abandoned pets.
Since 2016, we’ve offered street outreach with pet food and supplies to those living on the
streets in Toronto with their pets. The program runs from November - March. We also offer a year
round pet food bank each Friday from 4:00 - 5:30 at Mattie’s Place.
We contribute to surgical costs to help keep pets and their people together, when we have
funding to support individual cases.
Our Mission at Mattie's Place is to find compatible adopters for pets without a home to call their own.
We partner with Canadian shelters & organizations to provide fast response to intake requests, for adoptable pets at risk of death or euthanasia.
We rescue approximately 250 pets per year, and many come into the care of Mattie’s Place with urgent medical needs, from shelter euthanasia lists, or at risk of death due to their current living situation.
We understand life can take a turn and having a pet can be a struggle. We are here to support owner surrenders on a case by case basis. We offer support though pet food, supplies and will do whatever we are capable of doing to help pets and their people as we’re financially able.
Our adoption radius is within 3 hours of the Greater Toronto Area. We
will
consider
applications outside that radius on a case by case basis.
We do not adopt across borders.
Everyone is considered a viable applicant, and we look at all of your living situation to see if
it’s a match for the pets need that you’re applying to adopt. Yes, We adopt to families with
children, individuals, homes without fenced backyards, those living in condos and individuals
that
work outside the home.
Each pet has an individual need that we look to satisfy by finding a compatible home to that
specific pets needs.
Mattie’s Place partners with some incredible shelters & like minded organizations. We also have incredible support from many businesses that help make our work with pets and people a success
